Considering buying a trike, any advice?

Thanks everyone for the responces. My husband is going to check to see when our local bike shops have their next test ride and if they have a trike to ride.
Most of you mention that it will be different in the shoulders and arms. My surgery was in the lower neck area, so I will make sure I am healed well before doing to much.

Karen,
I'm on my second trike in the past 3 years and I swear by them. The stability and comfort far out weigh that of a 2 wheeler. Once you spent some time on one you won't want to go back. I don't even blink and eye at taking a 1000 mile roadtrip on my trike. Makes me laugh to ride to bike week from V.A. and see all of those two wheelers pulling their bikes on trailers. I would definitely test drive one before you committ to purchasing one.

Hey Karen, if the HD dealer has a trike, they will allow you to test ride one. I took my first ride in the back parking lot, lol, so was my second ride but the third ride was on a public street with no traffic, (office park area). I get off mine and feel great. It was so nice to be behind the fairing yesterday in 62 degree weather and not be cold. I've onl y had mine for two weeks and things are coming naturally to me now. As far as my arms and shoulders, I added the 2" pullback handlebars and that has taken care of any issues there. I will say this, my triceps are getting firmer, YEA, no more waving flags!! You won't have any problems, you will fall in love with it, I have...

Karen, forgot to mention, if any dealer in your area rents trikes, it not a bad idea. For me, it took more than just a demo ride to convince me it was for me. My wife and I rented one for a day or two and put some miles out of the city and through back roads with twisties....came back and knew it was for me. Now with over 5,000 miles in a couple of months I still get on it with the same enthusiasm as when I put the first mile on it.
