I put the Kuryakyn Perfect Storm system on mine prior to taking delivery and am very happy with the performance upgrade and sound.

Protip: Want to keep your wife's ears from ringing? Wear ear plugs like we do. Even if you don't have "loud" pipes, it's simply sensible hygiene.

Of course, my wife's FatBoy with extensive engine mods is actually louder than my trike. She always just wears earplugs while riding.

Do I need the stage 1 with that?...can I just do the slipons?

There's a funny movie line from Jurrasic Park. When the guy trying to steal the dino DNA is at a secretive meeting at an outdoor cafe, he looks down at the bill when it's laid on the table, then looks up at his accomplice and says, "Don't get cheap on me Dodson..."

You just bought the most expensive (non-CVO) bike Harley makes. It's worth your while to upgrade the engine performance.

Point well taken....thank you.

Also keep in mind my issue was only the sound issue....I love the power as it (for now), but I wanted to know if there was any harm in doing one without the other...

You can do just slip ons without adding the stage 1 air cleaner.

My 2 cents worth...

Any time you change air flow, you need to change your ECM.

I'm NOT a fan of "dealer downloads".

And it's not just for performance, it is to keep your engine running correctly. Less restriction on exhaust can cause your engine to run lean, which will shorten it's life.

30 grand on a Harley, what's another $400 to make sure it runs right?
I use a TTS, which anyone with a bit of common sense can operate and Vtune, and a FuelPak on the other bike, which is VERY simple, and ANYONE can program...
But there are a lot of guys here that will say you don't need to do anything.
It's your bike, do what you think is best.

Again, only my 2 cents worth.

I want all the opinions that people want to give, that is why I'm here, to get feedback... so please take this in that vane.....I'm not interested in saving money (by doing the work myself). I suppose because I don't know a great deal about my engine is why I'm asking questions that might not make sense since I just spent over 30gs on a bike...like wanting to change out my exhaust myself without doing anything else. (My other bikes were always taken to the dealer for everything, I just have more time to learn more about this bike at this time in my life.)….I’m going to look into the TTS more…may hit you up for more info on that. I won't necessarily do all the work myself, but I do want to understand…..appreciate your info.
