That is a strange one, I never could explain it either, guess the factory mufflers are better than the 4" SE's when the engine is mostly stock. My dad is running the 4" SE mufflers and he nipped my by about 2ft/lb of torque on the dyno.
Actually I paid the tuner an extra $50 to do that.
You can change the exhaust but if you go to free flow mufflers you will lose a little low end torque and throttle response. Still scratching my head over this but I had to take the SE 4" off and go back to the stock mufflers to get my low end torque back and a crisper throttle!
I then went with a K&N instead of a stage one and just the little bit of extra air did not seem to hurt.
but more or less as stated, you can change your exhaust without a map but if you do the exhaust and the AC you will have to remap!
+1 Coupe. My experience with stock vs. jackpot was the same. Stock mufflers we just a bit more crisp down low.
