I was just wondering what you guys are seeing with problems on these models.
I service 3 of these and all have some sort of issues.
So far i have seen:
Steering damper leaking
3 oil cooler mounts getting loose
all 3 had the transmission trap door bolts loosen up and the exhaust mount bolts fall out.
Left side mufflers hang down a slight bit more than the right side
Shift arm on transmission loosening up
all 3 needed rear rotors/pads at 4k-8k miles.
starter was loose
exhaust bracket at rear of trans case bolts falling out
parking brakes not working
reverse assembly loosening up

Do you guys see the same things as i do? Are my customers beating on these things? (I know they are a ton of run to ride)
I dont seem to see all the same things on 2 wheel bikes, but i was just curious. Once i fixed the issues, they didnt seem to come back at all.
I purchased a HD trike new and it has had problems for the past four years. The biggest issue is the water cooling system that has been replaced four times. The brakes failures with corrosion inside the calipers and park brake has not worked for two years, the very undersized starter motor for the reverse has failed twice and after 62,000 miles the HD service says the 103 engine needs to be replaces. They replaced the cooling system and put new head gaskets on in April and in June it died a fast death. Since then it has been in the HD service and it still is not fixed. They want a another 3,000 to fix it after I paid 2,500 in April for that service call. So this years riding season, they had the motorcycle in pieces and I obviously could not ride it. The other thing that I know has damaged the bike is they left the clutch hydraulic line to the transmission resting on the exhaust pipe. As the oil heated up, it reached the boiling point and thus no clutch. I'm sure this has also done substantial damage to the clutch and portably the whole transmission. The super nasty kicker to all of this is I purchased the 7 year extended service plan when it was new. After three major faillures within the first two years, they cancelled the policy and refused to return the money I spent for it.

Ya know,,,,, There is only one side aired here. Seems to me someone didn't expect the TriGlide to still be a motorcycle. Demanding far too much out of a motorcycle.
One wonders if a trike with an automotive engine and drive-train would suffer the same fate. They are available.
Seems like HD Mother ship would have a reason to cancel the warranty. Surely not from abuse !
Maybe not in this instance,,,,, but I have witnessed someone destroying an anvil !
