I wonder, is this breather change going to prevent excessive oil blow-by into the air cleaner that drips out and covers the engine and rear fender on a hot day? Maybe it would be wise to do a retrofit of this breather on the '09s and '10s?

Boom,
My guess would be yes. As my rocker boxes are coming off for the cam install I also showed the service manager a photo and article I found in the touring section. It had to do with drilling the oil return passages larger in the lower rocker box or supports, I don't remember exactly where. The service and ***'t service managers liked the idea and they are going to drill mine out to the specs given in the article. Anything to make it better is a good idea. I'd just wait to do yours until you had a reason to go into the top end.

It just may help, I'll find out because I'm pulling the cams out of my 06 Ultra to check crankshaft runout. I always replace the umbrella valves and the mesh when I have the rocker supports off. I bought the upgraded breathers when I was ordering the parts. Only thing I have to do is find out what the new torque spec is for the bolts. I may also drill the rocker supports this time around like Buddy is having done to his.
I wouldn't hesitate to upgrade the breathers, if the rocker covers were off for other reasons. Can't hurt. Likely don't cost enough to make price a factor.

I can't remember the price for the breathers but I do know it was pretty cheap.

Don't run out and buy anything just yet. Let me see what's leftover in the cam change kit I bought from HD. I know there's a new set in there. With such low mileage on mine, I'm not sure yet they will use the new ones during the cam change.
Could anyone with a 2011 service manual look up the torque specifications for these breathers? I'm getting ready to install a set in my 06 Ultra Classic and see they have a new torque value.

Mike,
Breather assembly screws page 3-1 120-156 inch or 13.6-17.6Nm. Hope this helps.
