I would never knock someone else's bike but in the area I live the dealers basically couldn't give them away. They would add the Tour Pak and some other accessories and reduce the price to sell them. Even at that they would sit aroung for awhile. Don't know, the biker crowd is a tough crowd to please.

I think they should consider producing a trike based on the V-Rod and then build a bigger framed model up from that water cooled mill. I have a friend that triked a V-Rod with a Frankenstein kit.
I would be much more apt to purchase a V-rod trike than I would a Sporster , Dyna or Softail model. You are not going to solve any of the heat or lean-running issues with just another air cooled Twin Cam in the cruiser framed trike. Just a smaller ride that is as hot as the Tri Glide.

The VRod makes a nice looking trike. This picture was taken at Sturgis in 08:

I'll bet thats a fun ride, around here the V-rod is a dime a dozen. I looked at a low mileage 09 a dealer had on the floor for 12k, had wheels turning in my head at the time.

OLDMSOCKO, I hear you, I had to get mine in Bedford Ohio through my dealer 2010 TRI CLASIC BECAUSE OF COLOR was not offered in 2011 (live in central MO.) They only had it 2 months on the floor, but had 2011's coming in. I am just wondering why they don't sell there. Maybe color? FLAME BLUE PEARL. Even knowing changes in 2011 would buy same again ,can make mods if desired but am happy with (except heat.
,which is same on 2011) most every thing else until warranty up. Just my opinion.

Wife and I being solo riders opted for the XXX. After several mods as noted in my sig. it is one sweet running bike. Late fall i got an '09 Dyna Fat Bob to trike out with a Frankestein kit. It handles and runs excellent and is way lighter than the TriGlide. One draw back is no trunk or saddlebags but with adding a sadlemen tunnel bage i have storage and a backrest. A champion type kit would probably be more suited for those who like 2up and more storage. I guess it comes down to what works for you.
