2009 Ultra converted to a Motor Trike kit, just changed to the 30 tooth sprocket and had to get aq new belt

Same here but the MT doesn't have the front to back adjustment room that a TG does. Nice, huh?

Question Vss

If the 2011 trikes come with the 30 tooth pulley, could you not order a VSS for the 2011 trike that is already calibrated?

The calibration is part of the program written to the ECM. At this time there are only 2 ways to alter the actual program, the TTS and the Power Vision tuners. One other way is to use an external source such as the Dakota Digital SIM-1 module.

I want to get the trans sprocket changed to the 30 tooth on my Tri. I figure I can get more bang for the buck by doing that than any other mod. Anybody know, on average, how much I can expect to pay to have the sprocket changed?

Another way is to replace the ECM with a ThunderMax tuner.

That's funny....I was able to redo the calibration on my speedometer with the TMAX.

Forgot about the T-Max, was thinking more along the lines of the stock ECM still in use.

DO NOT GO FOR THE DAKOTA DIGITAL CALIBRATOR OR SIM-1 as it is called !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just had the 30T conversion done by my dealer and they installed the Dakota Digital calibrator (SIM-1), and if it is calibrated to the correct speed then the cruise control will not work.

The only time I use cruise control is on trips and do not have any planned in the near future so I had them set it to the correct speed because I don't want it clocking more miles than I am actually driving.

Thought I would save some money getting the Dakota Digital calibrator rather than buying a tuner, but now I'm out the price of the calibrator and still need to get a tuner so the darn thing can get set up right.

This STINKS!!

Just wanted to get this up here to prevent any one else from making the same mistake.

I definitely like the ability to take off the way it should from a stop. That was the first thing I told the wife the day we picked up the Tri Glide in Oct 08, that it was not geared right, had to give to much gas and slip the clutch on take off.

According to Dakota Digital web site:

"2007 and later Harley models require hardwiring into stock harness, speed correction can be made up to Harley's factory margin of error, typically 3-5%≈nsp;from actual speed reading. If correction is made beyond this, it may result in the loss of the 6th gear indicator light and cruise control."

So apparently the gear change exceeds the 3-5% limit.
