IMHO, I think getting that increase in low-end pickup is more important than losing the 6th gear light. I can tell by the RPM when I'm in 6th gear. As for speedo difference, I believe the speedo reads faster than actual so I won't worry about getting pulled over by LEO. When money is available, I'll get the change corrected.
You're right on a bike with an RPM Gauge, like a Tri-Glide, but my Deluxe only has a speedo gauge.
