Default Emissions/Cooling Unit

The trailer houses an Emissions/Cooling unit and is the Harley Engineer's response to our bitching about the Catalytic Converter and the heat problems.

The 2011's will no longer have catalytic converter and the EPA overlapping cams have been replaced with 201's with 30 deg. duration. The AFR has been richened up across the the Total RPM range and the 2011 Tri Comes standard with Tru Duals "into the trailer unit" and Stage I AC.

The non-EPA Time Trials showed a 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds! The EPA compliant Time Trials "with the trailer" produced a 0 to 60 just in under 20 minutes!

Still we need to give the Harley Engineer's credit for being able to produce a Large Cu.In. Air Sucker that is EPA Compliant while eliminating the need for a Cat in the headpipe or Cams that open only after the fuel is burned 10 times.

A full 1/2 of the trailer is air conditioning for the heads and the riders right leg. Cleverly desguised as a travel trailer

Not to worry! This is just the prototype! Harley got the heat problem fixed for us. Now all the other guys on the forum have to do is fugure out how to get this down to the size of a 12oz. Pepsi Can and get it to run off the battery, belt or a gear and hang off the side of a motor!

You didn't really think Harley was going to leave us hanging with this Heat Problem did you?

They got the tough part done, I got confidence the guys that hang out here can put the finishing touches on this!

Shoot! The job is already half done, Harley said we got the easy part

I'd love to have one of em! I don't think the Dealer's will give much on the 2010 Tri though. They will probably tell me I got a heat problem and offer me 1/2 of low book

Default 2011 and beyond

All joking aside, if anyone would admit to surfing the metric site's you would find they are going through the same dump the cat drama we are. With the exception of the water cooled that are just trying to get their performance back.

It does seem odd to me the total auto industry and now the motorcycle industry have been married to that CAT since the early 70's. Not much ingenuity taking place here beyond ECM controlled EFI and EPA CAMS.

It there was ever a need for building a better mouse trap!

The efficiency of most the metric engine designs since they don't have to build to maintain a certain sound give them a little bit of an edge. I think the total industry is just tweaking around that cat now. Works great for a cage and what we use them for, sucks for an old air pump we all remember as a kick to own 20 or thirty years ago.

I think it may come down to switching fuels to keep from straining the exhaust through a CAT. Of the course the purist will still say I'm not going to hang no radiator on my Harley or buy one that runs on Hydrogen!
