Default Tri-Glide bling installs.....

I figure this thread can cover just about anything. I just finished a brutal installation of hub caps on my '10 TG Ultra. I struggled with removing/installing two rear tires and fought with seized bolts on two OEM wheel hubs (no way to grab hub that kept turning with bolt).
Question is, will I have similar problems (bad instruction, poor fit, etc.) if I purchase a rear bumper? Lots of fun here!

Nah! the bumper is a snap! I found some Mud Flaps from JC Whitney that look better than the HD Mud Flaps for the Tri Glide also. Around 30 bucks so a lot cheaper. Chrome insert with a gold eagle, the HD just has red lettering. Will try to get some pics, they look good on the black bikes.

I did the chrome inner fairing instrument covers, including the switch area! Tour Pack Taillight Trim. Front Fender Bumper. Studded the seats myself, original covers.

So far all I have added is a new zumo 660, v-twin logs on the side covers, and spacers on the front floor boards. I have the oil temp kit on order, and will install it on the next oil change. Lots of ideas but not enough money!

The majority of things I've done to any of my past and present HD's have been pretty easy. I still have the chrome front end, oil temp gage, garage door opener, Jagg 10 row oil cooler and SE 255 cams to do this winter on my TG. Winter for the most part sucks, working on the motorcycles makes it more tolerable.

Boon, the bumper is a snap, I did the install by my self but it would be easier with a “friend and helper”!

To date I have done 77 mods to my TG, some were easier than others and for the most part, the Harley instructions that come with the parts leave a lot to be desired because they try to cover many models and years in one instruction sheet! So it sometimes take some careful interpretation to decipher exactly what it is they want you do!

I agree that removing the rear wheels is probably one of the more challenging tasks on the TG; however, I discovered the trick is to pull the wheel of the bottom lugs, than rotate the wheel and it will drop off. I posted a detailed step by step rear tire removal tip here about a month or so ago.

Good luck with your new TG and enjoy!!!!!!!!!!

Default (not for trike)

Here's another example of a part listed in the catalog that fits later touring bikes but in parenthesis says "not for trikes". I just had a long discussion with a parts manager about this issue concerning a backrest. He said if the catalog says that, then there is a reason for it. I bought the backrest and was told if it doesn't fit and I damage it, they won't refund my money. I said I understand but wanted it anyway.
Someone with an '09 TG Ultra told me this backrest, 52572-09A and associated mount hardware, fit and installed OK in his TG. Anyone else successfully installed this backrest with no modifications? I'd like to find out before pulling the seat and attempting the mod. I guess I'm trying to avoid paying an extra hundred bucks for the backrest that is "specifically" designed for the TG.

I had the same backrest 52572-09 installed on my TG by the dealer. Very comfortable for me.

MOCO accessory page does not show that a Ultra Front Bumper will Fit the Triglide. Just an observation will show that it will but I had the same problem with my dealership. I would have pulled one off the shelf and just held it up to the fender if someone had just bought a Tri Glide from me.

No matter went on Ebay and snagged one for 20 buck, pristine condition and a direct bolt on. I hardly ever pay full price for the bling, got the passenger foot peg chrome the same way.

Rob,
I think I can conjure up some photos this weekend and do the posting. Funny thing is, I'll bet it looks like Lynn's and all the other rhs TGs! lol
Not much you can do to these things to make them unique.
How 'bout ape hangers and streamers on the grips?

Actually I just installed a backrest that is "not for trike". I don't think you have that one yet.
