Default Stronger reverse motor.

What was the first year Harley put in the stronger reverse motor?
We have a 21 and we can tell the reverse motor has more power then her 16 did.

Both the `16 and 21 use the same motor
p/n 83388-09C
the -09 tells us the part started in `09
the C MIGHT indicate a revision in design / power

I know they increased the power output on the reverse motor, I know the 21 has it. A friend said 20 was the first year, but he was going by a salesman. When backing up hill the extra power is obvious.
I'm looking to buy a used one and want to be sure to get the revised one.

May be stronger but more reliable I question. My 2024 TG just turned 10k when reverse motor took a dump last week. Luck of the draw I guess as my 2018 and 2020 TGs went over 30k each without failure. Go figure

Adding a aftermarket mechanical reverse gears(ex. Motor Trike;https://www.motortrike.com/trikereverse.aspx) would solve this problem.

Sad about the 24, but I think the 20 had the revised one. We never had trouble with the 16 but you could tell it was under a strain by the feeling and sound. Her 21 reverse has more power and does not make that whining straining sound going uphill.

Just called my bud about what he was told by the service guy at his local dealership. He trust this guy.
the 114 was stock in 19.
In 20 they uesd the existing reverse motor adding more wattage and power to it..
I can't find anything else on it, the guy was right about the 114 on all stating in 19.
I just want to be sure if I get one it has the stronger wattage motor.

I thought that this reverse gear, clutch operated, engine driven, stick shift was the coolest.

Saw this guy pull in, shift into reverse and back up like a boss. Nice setup

Yes I know all about them, I like the Baker one. But to many other things I need to buy to make it mine. I just want to know what year did they add more wattage to the reverse electric motor ,that's it. My wife uses her reverse continuously, way more than she needs to,and no problems 20,000 miles. But I know the 21 has the upgrade reverse. I'm simply trying to find out what year the upgrade was done . Harley never advertised it,,, didn't want people to know because lots of people would want theres updated for free if it was still under warranty. Human Nature, but thank you for the picture and advice.

The part number for the 15 and on up including 23 is 83388-c. I don't see where there has been any change to them.
The part number would have changed.

If they added anything i would think the parts book would reflect it.
