Yeah I'd like to add a mechanical reverse but I'm under factory warranty and have a seven year Harley ESP so I'll just let them spend the $$$$.

The part number would have changed.

If they added anything i would think the parts book would reflect it.
Yes I know the part number is the same. Harley did this under the radar ,no publicity over it. That's why this mechanic only new the year. He thinks it's 20 and up..I was hoping someone on here had some inside info.
My bud has always seemed to know what he's talking about. I hate to bother DK Customs over this, but they would probably know. If the election in November goes the way I hope it will, I will be more inclined to spend more money on a Freewheeler with ,DK, Custom to get everything I want to make it mine . If the Nov election goes the other way, I will most likely buy nothing. This is why I haven't bothered DK Customs over this, I respect them.. I hope this did not get too political, I did not say a single word of the person I think that can fix the economy... Just using common sense. I appreciate all the advice.😊

Doesn’t matter for the next 7 years what, when or where the reverse motor gets power or how much power it uses … does it?

I really don’t trust the reverse motor on my Tri. I purposely park where I won’t have to use it and just use my legs when I have to. When I have used it, I just don’t like the way it sounds. I have a 19.

The attached Service Bulletin explains what you are looking for; along with the wiring kit.

"To inform dealers of a running change for the new reverse
motor (Part No. 83388-09C) for Trike models. As of January
28, 2020 all Trike platform vehicles will be manufactured using
the new reverse motor. The new reverse motor will be used to
replace reverse motor assemblies (Part No. 83388-09,
83388-09A,83388-09B) that have failed diagnostics. Refer to
Table 2.
This motor contains several improvements for better motor
durability."

Once you do this, you will never have to mess with it again. Have one installed in my new 2024 RGL. Dropped it off today. I have one in the 2020 RGL for sidecars. That reverse has been in 2 sidecar rigs 82,000 miles between them. Soon it will go into a third.
