Default shock removing

2023 rg, Can the shocks be changed with out removing the trunk ? Also what is in the shock adjuster, I don't think it's air, maybe oil? The shop manual states to not disconnect it, why, is it the same if you remove the tag on your mattress ?

Yes they can, but you probably will be done quicker if you remove the body. At least that's my experience.

Do the trunk and the 2 fenders all come off as ONE piece, or do the fenders need to be removed from the trunk?

Default DK Video

Saw a DK Customs installation video and they did not remove the trunk.

You can remove the shocks without removing the trunk but the hose & adjuster might be tricky. It’s way easier with the trunk off. It is not that hard to remove. Without the hoses and adjuster **** it’s way easier.

I changed my shocks in less than an hour without removing the body. The bolts are not that hard to get to.

I have removed the trunk from both of my Triglides. I also replaced the shocks the first time without removing the trunk. I learned removing the trunk is so easy, I was mad for not having done it before.
I do remove the tour pack, but not the fenders. I get a helper to lift the trunk off and back on, but it lines up so well everything goes back perfectly.
Check YouTube for trunk removal video and see what those of us who have removed the trunk mean when we recommend it for a way to make your life easier. Lots of stuff is easier to do with it off.

I have also removed the trunk from my Tri Glide, it is a simple process.

It is a bit heavy if you don`t remove the tour pack first.
