Default Cargo Trailer or U-Haul

I am curious as to what size trailer is recommended for hauling a Tri-Glide?

Also, has anyone found a good size to rent from U-Haul?

I have a 6x12 enclosed that I have used. It's tight but doable.

Thanks… I was concerned the door on the 6’ would be too narrow. Good to know it is doable.

I put pool noodles on my cables as suggested by several here so they don't scratch.
Getting off was a chore at 6'4" 280.

I had a 6x12 that worked great. I never really thought the ramp cables were a huge issue; I needed to keep the trike straight and be careful, for sure.
Most U-Haul enclosed trailers are doors and you need a ramp, just FYI.

Thanks for responding. That size is a less expensive option and more readily available on the used market.

Remember, you’ll need multiple tie down points, and access to them when loaded.
Rear tie downs are not optional.
Criss cross the rear tie downs to eliminate side-to-side movement.
A front wheel chock is a huge plus.

I had no luck finding a suitable uHaul but our local Home depot did rent a 6x12 cargo that worked well for initially picking up my Freewheeler. (They no longer have one to rent) If I was buying a trailer. I'd go with a 7' wide. You want the ramp gate and a side door exit. My personal circumstances are such that I find myself needing a trailer on a regular basis. I have minimal storage space and budget. We also live on an island and every extra foot costs when transporting off island. I ended up with a 6x10 flat deck trailer with a rear ramp and a 4" dropped axle. I park it in the garage and drive straight on to it after a ride. (You will need rear jacks or blocks when not hooked up to a tow vehicle.) The trailer doubles as work surface for cleaning and maintaining my trike. I would far rather have the security of an enclosed trailer for transporting my trike but I truly appreciate what I do have. A 6x10 open trailer will do a fine job of hauling your tri glide but your trike may need a bath when you reach your destination! Anything bigger is a bonus!
