I had a Gold Wing trike - MotorTrike. We always ran our front tire reversed. I am trying to recall - we moved to Harley in 2004. Sold the trike when it had about 50,000 miles on it. Trike was installed in 1996.
We never replaced the rear tires - and averaged about 15,000 on the front.
From what I've been reading I should replace my rear tires after 6+ yrs regardless of tire wear. I have just turned 20k on my 2011 and was curious to know if I should replace this spring before the riding season
On my campers/autos, every 6 years regardless of condition unless damaged, then sooner. Never had one on a 2-wheeler go that long without becoming slicks due to mileage. On my new trike, if they last 6 years, I will change them. Blow-outs are not fun... had a few over the years.
2016 Freewheeler had just under 6k miles and tires were original. Mechanic showed me the date and suggested I replace. I just got Michelin Commander III in the front and Michelin Defenders in the rear. Much smoother ride.
replaced the front tire last year, I need to check the Date code on the rears as I won't run a tire over ten years. Still got plenty of tread, as it hard to wear out the rear on a Trike unless you beat the **** out of it. the bike only has about 30k on it.
