I have an Aluma TK-1 open trailer for my 2015 Freewheeler. From the tag “GVWR = 2990 lb. Weight of cargo should not exceed 2465lb.”. I haul it with a 2015 Subaru Outback w/6 cyl engine that is rated for 3000lb. (Subaru has since quit using the 6 cyl flathead engine) Have hauled trike from Southern Illinois to Wisconsin several times and have had no problems- the front guard wall on the trailer seems to deflect the wind up and over the trike. My windshield even stays clean. Bought it used for $2300. from a local trailer dealer. Has a storage box on the front for straps etc and tie downs are built in. The trailer is so light that I forget its back there.

I bought an Ironhorse 1 bike / trike trailer to haul my Ultra Limited.

I bought this one (bigger) for future options, in case I want to go to three wheels, I can fit it, and not have to get another. Also if I decide to sell, resale values are very high. I actually went to their factory before buying and Ed and Julie gave me a tour of their factory and showed me how they build them. I was very impressed and ended up buying one, they are GREAT people to work with.

Been to Daytona twice, and Maggie Valley with it and as stated, don’t even know it’s behind you.

FWIW... Good luck with whatever you decide....

The Ironhorse is a great trailer. Problem is it's very expensive and I probably won't use it more than once a year if that.

Default Aluma MC10

I also bought an Aluma MC-10 trailer for my 2015 UC Limited. Wide ramp slides up under the frame, extremely light and easy to move around. Sticker on the trailer reads " The weight of the cargo should never exceed 1535 lbs. :

Not sure what a trike weighs, but the cost was about $2400 tax, title out the door if I remember correctly.

Took a quick look and the weight of a "one trike" Ironhorse is 945 pounds, and not sure if that includes a spare and such.... That plus a 1,200 pound trike is over your 2,000 pound threshold.....
:-(

It's not a hard and fast rule. It's really all about overheating the transmission. It is another point for the Kendon though.

The other issue might be braking. Smaller vehicles can have a tough time stopping a bunch more weight pushing them from behind.....

People that tow with a truck are quick to say get at least a 7' wide x 14' long tandem axle trailer but if you want or need to tow with a suv or small truck then 6'x12' single axle enclosed will get the job done under 3,000 lb. To get down near 2,000 lb a 5'x10' open aluminum trailer will work if you're careful. The Ironhorse trailer is expensive but probably worth it if you use it a lot and don't really need it for "other stuff", my enclosed trailer has hauled furniture and appliances more than the trike.

I used a ToyCarrier single trailer for my bike but sold it recently. They were similar looking to Iron Horse but much cheaper.

I noticed in our ads up here a double one, which I knew existed, but never seen one. This company is out of business now, but see the odd one for sale. Here's a link to the one for sale up our way. Mine was like 800 lbs, didn't even know it was behind me while towing.

Just some info. Good luck in your search.

As being someone that almost died from inadequate brakes with a pop-up camper, along with taking my family with me, I can't stress enough the importance of this warning! If you've ever had brake fluid ever start to boil on you and the pedal turn to mush on steep, curvy road with huge drop-offs, you know exactly what I mean
mean. Pucker city. Don't go there.

If you're even close to the limit, definitely check out electric or at least impulse brakes on the trailer, no matter how small. Don't die from something stupid.
