Default Luggage rack for my Tri Glide

I had this for years and years and only used it 1 time on my Electra Glide and I really didn’t like the way it sat because it was too low. With the TG the hitch is 3.5” rise so it clears the exhaust nicely.. ready to travel. Now I need a waterproof bag to use on it. It’s 12”x 18” so I could carry a cooler for short trips or luggage for longer stints. I even drilled holes on the back of it to mount my license plate on it

Be careful with the weight you put on it, will lighten your front tire. Better off with a small trailer to better distribute the weight.

I have an '18 Tri-Glide and I have a new hitch ready to install but there are two issues preventing me from doing so.

1. Under the factory two-year warranty (and also under the aftermarket ESP that I have, it states explicitly that mounting a trailer hitch will VOID the warranty.
And it doesn't seem to be flexible enough to allow the carrying of a cooler, mounting a flag pole or extra luggage on the hitch.
2.If your luggage sits too high and restricts to your license plate some police may cite you for that.

A couple of years back, there was a nice Ultra for sale that had a very nice looking "box" mounted to a trailer hitch/rack as pictured in this thread.
It had been sanded and painted with lighting installed to match and compliment the Ultra, at apparently high expense.

I researched it and discovered that the box, with an optional top mounted luggage (which I ordered) was available on-line through Home Depot.
Kolpin Rear Trail Box Store SKU # 1000592770 with a Kolpin Accessory Rack for Rear Trail Box.

Not fancy (comes in black plastic) when unsanded and unpainted but it is very functional and light enough (once empty) to be removed from the hitch to be stored or left in a motel room temporarily if needed.

If I decide to mount the trailer hitch on my Tri-Glide (when my wife rides with me) I intend on using this box but I'll also add lighting and a license plate racket for road road trips.

We used one of the Kuryakn bags on ours. Thencovered it with a trash bag, and then the bag that comes with it. Not only for water proofing, but to keep out the exhaust smell. That was a smelly lesson.

2021 is my first Trike and one thing I don't like is is bending down to get things in and out of the trunk (gloves, jacket, etc). So I went with a rack and put a T-Bag on top of it. That way I don't have to bend over all the time. Plus it's harder to see in the trunk. Old age I guess.
