Two wheels to three wheels
#3
Not really as I also kept two, two wheelers for different occasions.
While I appreciate the stability on wet roads, stopping and turning of the Tri-Glide it does have some "short comings" compared to a two-wheeler:
1. You have a much better chance of more bumps and chug holes with the spread pattern of the extra wheels.
2. Unless you do some mods (and adjustments) the trike rides much rougher than an Ultra.
3. It takes more effort (steering) to a ride a trike than it does to ride a bike.
4. On a two-wheeler, you get the up and down bumps but on the trike you also get a side-to-side rocking motion that is probably much worse for the passenger as they are closer to the rear wheels.
All this said, I do not regret purchasing the Tri-Glide.....it's just a different type of machine.

Nope, no regrets at all. On two wheelers I certainly enjoyed leaning through the curves but honestly don't miss it at all on the TG. It is a blast riding curvy roads and as others said the added stability is a huge plus. As for the ride, well let's say it is not plush but it is acceptable on any decent road.

I miss 2 wheels only brace I was forced onto 3. If I was able to ride 2 until I wanted to go to 3 I'd be better with it. That said the trike is awesome. I went with a Freewheeler for the sporty look. I wasn't mentally ready for 3 let alone the full on tri Glide. and that's not a shot at the Tri Glide. If they sold that with a Roadglide fairing I would have bought one.
As for as the roughr ride? I disagree. Its smoother for sure on the *** end. Lower the rear tires to 22psi and have your shocks set right and your fine. Best thing to do it if you cannot avoid a pothole or anything else that may be in the way. Hit it with your front tire and you miss it with the rear tire.
You know when you hit the pothole with your front and you brace for impact because you know you're about to have a bone crusher of a hit? Ya. I dont have that anymore. Ever. So that's a big plus for me as for as the trike goes.
Also. They're not slower in curves. 10 to 15mph over the posted limit is easy. Slide of the seat a bit and you can take it even faster. I find that the guys I've been riding with for years I'm running up their asses in turns.
I'm in the middle of adding 14" Factory 47s added lowers and speakers in them. An amp in the trunk. I miss 2. But I'm having a blast on 3 No Regerts.

At our age while nostalgic those old boneshakers beat up old guys, why my beloved shovel sits more than I like. Love that bike but anything more than 10 -15 miles anymore I feel it for days after.

I'm still on two wheels. I love them, but I can't get my wife to ride on the back of a two wheeler with me.
I've test ridden a tri glide, it was different than a two wheeler, but it was a lot of fun in it's own way.
If I could get my wife to ride on the back of a three wheeler I'd dump two wheels in a heartbeat and not look back.
