Ammeter showing discharge
Not sure if this is the right place but here goes. I have a 2012 Triglide and have had it for almost a year. Trouble free. My last ride my ammeter starter showing lower and lower reading where it was down to almost zero. A fellow rider thought he smelled electrical problem so off came the seat and battery checked and the battery connections were all beyond finger loose!!! Tightened down, got a jump and home i went. BTW I usually wear mt FOB on a strap around my neck but this time I left it in the trunk. When i got home I tightened all the connections on the battery and used a drop of blue loctite I put bike on a trickle charger as per usual. A few days later went to my dentist and as i arrived i noticed the ammeter was reading zero! When I got back out and tried to start it, it started but not before the alarm chirped. Got home with ammeter reading zero. Took seat off, checked connections and took reading of battery( bought new in 10/2018) which was 12.8 or so. Started bike and got reading of 13.8 +/-. Seemed withing specs. I was still concerned so went to dealer and since at that moment all was reading fine they said it was a crap shoot to try and find the problem. As I was trying to leave, I turned ignition on and tried to start and alarm chirped and bike did not want to start. Tech came out and said it sounded like a weak FOB battery( in the trunk) so he took it out, put it next to ignition and bike started right up and ammeter read 14 volts. So got to my battery store, they checked battery( 3 volt read 2.7 which is low) and I put new battery in. All is copacetic. Does this make sense? It does to me as my bike thought I was stealing my own bike by not recognizing the FOB.
