Default Front Tire Life?

Took my '16 Triglide in for the 10K service ( had 11,300 miles on it}. Dealer said front tire was down to 3/32 and needed to be replaced! So that means a new tire every 10K? What kind of mileage are you guys getting on the front tire?

My 2014 got 27,000 on the front tire and it still wasn't quite down to the "wear bars". But preparing for a possible 3K trip I went ahead and put on new.

Wife got 38K oh the first one on her '09. Has 28K on the '15 and has a lot of life left. Tire life will be determined by type of riding, twisties will wear them out quickly

There is only 6/32 on the new stock tire, I think. So, I think the dealer "pushed" you a little on this. I had a tad over 2/32 on mine when I changed it around 13,000. Could have got a few more miles out of it, but was leaving on a trip, so changed it. I corner a little aggressivly and we have a lot of chip seal roads here, and I think that shortens tire life some. As was already posted, there are several factors that contribute to front tire life.

At 11,000 the front tire of my 20014 was almost at the wear bar. Installed a rear motorcycle tire on the front now have 16,000 miles on that tire maybe half worn. Avon also has a trike front tire that has been reported to get good mileage and handling. If you do a search there is a lot of info on this site about the tires.

I've had 3 trikes and I do as much two lane riding as interstate riding. I have never managed to get more than 14000 miles out of a front tire. I've used the Dunlop and the Michelin Commander. Basically they give the same mileage. I had to replace the front tire on the 2017 at 12500 miles. I don't think I'm crazy on the twisties but I don't slow down more than necessary. And my wife is always with me. I find it hard to believe some of the mileage figures that people put out there but I guess you never know. I have replaced several front tires over the years in the 11000 mile range so I personally don't find that odd. And better safe than sorry.

That's about the same mileage I've gotten on all three TG's I've had. A 2012, 2014 & 2017. The 2017 maybe a little less that I thought maybe due to the linked brakes?
