I'm thinking of getting a freewheeler but it's in the next state so I need to know how big of a trailer I need ? Can't ride it home as it's to cold, Will a uhaul 5X9 open work ? Thanks Rick
How wide is the actual tailgate opening, that will be the key on if the Free will go through it and not damage the fenders. Some Free owners here will give you a better idea. Good luck.
I have a 6x12 enclosed. And my TriGlide fits comfortably. But as mentioned, make sure the ramp is wide enough. By the way, the measurements don't necessarily reflect the exact interior dimensions.
But, here's a novel idea. Go to a Uhaul dealer and measure it.
Have a 6 x 10 enclosed trailer and Freewheeler fits in but only have 4" clearance on each side going through door. ,7 ft would give you more clearance on each side.

5 Foot wide won't do it... You''ll need 6 feet......

With my Tri and my 6x10 v, there is only about 2" of clearance on each side and that is between the ramp door cables (narrowest point). I screwed wood guides to the ramp & floor to keep my wheels where they need to be to clear.
I had a 6X10 and as others said it fit but was close. I traded for a 7X12 dual axle and it's great.
You don't say where you're located, someone may have a trailer and for little money or maybe even a good meal would help, you out.
