Mine broke on my 2013 tri glide, I checked and it wasn't covered by warranty. Just bought another one and screwed it in next to the pop rivet on the tour pack where the old one was attached. Hooked the other end to the top in the normal location.

I had the retracing tether on my '09 TG....broke and lid went over but did not hit the fender. Had a witness to incident, but extended warranty folks said the crack in the lid was caused by overloading the luggage rack! NOT, since the luggage rack was "for looks" and eight witnesses stated I had never used the rack for anything. I had the chrome hinges installed prior to this incident. I had to fork over $$ for new tour lid...then about two months later noticed a large rack in the tour pak itself. Found a local paint shop in Boise that reinforced the bottom tour pak with fiberglass and repainted to match. Needless to say, I was pissed. I have the old tour lid sitting in my garage....if anyone wants it and fix the small crack, just pay shipping and it's all yours! If no one wants it, to the garage it goes.
