Between seats, and windshields, I have spent a fortune trying to get just the perfect scenario.

Hope ya meant impressed amkrat hehe. That is probably the biggest downside to having a seat by them. Altho you could buy another off EBAY, Craiglist, Wanted Ads etc.. to get ya thru till they ship yours back. For me this will be my winter mod.

+4 on Russell Day Long. I've had it on 2 Triglides. In 2012, my RDL has been California to Rhode Island and back with each leg being 500-600 miles each. It recently went on an Iron Butt saddle sore 1000 and bun burner 1500 on the same trip. To me that was the absolute best proof of the RDL's superiority.
About Russell Cycle Products: I live 8 hours away from Shasta Lake and drove there to have my seat made while I waited. The crew there was phenomenal. They still took profile pix of mama and me, even though we were there in person. We got to see how the seat was to be constructed and how they manufacture the foam and assign it based on rider weight. Got to get a quick demo of design on MY seat. They helped us find lodging before we arrived, and they even offered us their truck so we didn't have to walk to breakfast down the road. It took about 9-10 hours to build our seat. The engineering, design and performance are above reproach!
A former owner of a Air Zeppelin, I loved it on my CA-RI-CA trip in 2006. It was also prone to some of the mechanical issues you can read here in the trike forum. That being said I'd get a modern Road Zeppelin in a heartbeat if I couldn't have a RDL.

How does it compare to a Corbin for firmness? I have a Corbin Dual Tour and wish it was a little softer.

I had a Corbin on my '06 Triumph Rocket III. The Corbin is quite a bit firmer than the RDL.

Thanks for catching my "fat finger" mistake. Yes, I meant "impressed"

Just finished 5875 miles Lebanon Tn to Jasper Alberta, and throughout the west and back. Bought new Hammock seat for the trip. Did also stop at HD dealer and bought pair of air vented HD cushions because of 105 deg heat index. During my biking days this is my eleventh HD (2009 TRiglide) In my opinion (whatever that is worth) the Hammock seat is one of the best. I'm 67 years old and have some back problems, and the Hammock seat has extra give to it when you hit the larger bumps. The wife did not complain once about seat being uncomfortable
