Default Best GPS

Not a new subject but I couldn't find a good answer in old threads.
I have a 2010 Tri-Glide. I am thinking about putting a GPS on it and I would like to tap into the knowledge here. I would like a unit that is good in any weather and can been seen on sunny days. A lot of the ones I see on other motorcycles seem to wash out on sunny days. I have the three bag on fairing pouches. The far left one snaps off to allow room for mounting things. Please advise ypur thoughts on best all around unit and best mounting solution.

Yup. I have the Garmin Zumo 660, with the fairing mount, very satisfied with it and the MapSource plotting S/w. Cost more than others but worth it. Never had an issue with glare.

Beware of using just a smart phone. if you are in an area without cell reception...no maps. Or even in an area with high cell phone traffic, like the LA area during rush hours...no maps.

Kuryatkyn (or however you spell it) makes a gas cap cover replacement with a pivoting mount. We mounted our GPS to this. You can adjust the angle to reduce glare. Remember, this is a motorcycle and you will get some glare unless you are riding at night. About the unit, pretty much all of them work the same. My $50. GPS for Dummies works just as well as wife's Garmin. None are waterproof, so when it rains, take it off. When you park, do you want your $600 GPS stolen, or the $90 one. You really don't want to be driving down the road at 70mph fooling with a lot of 'features'.

Good Luck

Zumo 665 dash mount, 100% satisfied. Subscribe to XM radio and weather, it is worth it to have the weather map. Saved us a few times.

Doing some GPS shopping myself. I have a Garmin Nuvi for my car and a 62St handheld. I can't help but notice though that the TomTom Rider, which comes with a mount & maps seems like a waaay cheaper alternative to the Zumo. The Zumo's have a lot of features but I frankly doubt anyone would use them all and I know I wouldn't.

Garmin RoadTech Zumo with a fairing mount. If you get the HD model it will interface with your stereo, it will give you Bluetooth capabilities and you can even do phone calls through the headset if things are set up right. It has a card slot for MP3's which also play through your stereo. It also comes with a car mount so it's very versatile.

There is sometimes some glare on the screen, but for the most part it is always visible. If you get a little glare you can hold your hand right above it for temporary look. There are also hoods that fit the Garmin that will help. I haven't seen any device with a screen that works perfect in the bright sun including GPS, cell phone, etc.
