Another first from Harley
Today I got a call from Harley Corporate ... ya know Milwaukee ... I was blown away ... bought many new Harleys before and never had anyone but my salesman ask me about my purchase ... guessing since it was over 30K ... some dollar figure tripped or something ... Anyway, This guy asked lots of questions ... listened when I told him about learning to ride the trike ... even laughed when I told him the story of how I named the "Fat Bottom Girl" ... towards the end of the call he tells me not to forget that any accessories I purchase and have Harley install during the first 60 days is automatically covered by two years unlimited miles warranty ... knew if I did it at time of purchase was covered ... but this was news ... thinking maybe the saddlebags ... maybe not. Anyway ... kinda freaked me out when he called .. just another first. This ever happen to anyone else .. or was I like the millionth customer served ... wait ... that's Mikey D's

I got the same call from a nice lady the week before Thanksgiving. Asked me all sorts of questions, wanted to be sure I was happy with my purchase, (very!) and to remind me I had til Dec. 12th to get the additional 1 year warranty on any accessories I might want to add. Nice touch from the MoCo.

Unfortunately it's strictly a sales pitch in case the salesman didn't nail it during the time of purchase or you forgot. They make big money on parts and the mark up on extended warranty is HUGE. They get paid per contact, the questions are proof they called.
Ever get a call from your Cell provider asking if you want to join a new lower rate? Telemarketer/Third Party companies are paid per customer acceptance of the new plan. Corp accounts usually get a real employee
Yes... Third Party Call

No let down, and no, no outsourcing either. The call came from Harley corporate HQ in Milwaukee. ( I tried to find the number in my caller ID but it's been too long ago. It was 414 area code.) It's called good business in my book when a company hires people to check up on recent customers and find out if they're happy with their purchases. What? You think if I had been having an issue she would of just said, "Gee, that's too bad. I'm just calling to sell you more parts."? There was no twisting of my arm, no suggestions as to what accessories I should buy, just somebody who sounded genuinely interested in if I was happy with my purchase. You know what I got from Honda when I purchased my 2014 CB1100? Nada. Big fat zero. No call from Soichiro in Tokyo. Nothing.
What Harley's doing is what all successful companies have done in the past....and that = good customer service.
