Wow, finally got around to removing media from the catalytic converter. A neighbor of mine has a plasma cutter and welder and he volunteered to help me the other day. It took me longer to get the stuffing out than it did for him to cut opening and reweld closed. i'm not sure what type of material the media was but definately not ceramic as I anticipated. It looked to be metallic of some sort. The results are great. Less heat on my right foot, a bit more power, a bit better fuel economy and a lot louder exhaust note. Shoulda done it a l

When I removed the material from my catalytic converter, I saved it and brought it to my local metal recycle place. They told me that it had platinum in the material and they paid me by the gram. I didn't get rich on the transaction, but I was going to the recycle center anyway and it more than paid for the gas.

 

Guess I had better go dig it out of the trash.
