They do have some adjustment and can be 12 3/4" unloaded. When on the ground they drop a bit more and ride right around 12" when rider is on the bike. I didn't notice my bike being any taller than my stock 12" air shocks. They are worth it over the 12" version (3/1's or 3/2's) because of the additional stroke. More range gives a better ride.
