I have changed my oil 3X's in the first 1000 miles LOL. I changed both tranny and primary at uner 400 miles the first time and changed the motor oil at aobut 50 miles the first time around. I have always done it this way and have never had an issue with any of my high mileage bikes. This time it is a 2011 RGU. Now I will go longer between changes tho.

Breaking it in?
Change the oil ( it's cheap).
If you are planning on keeping the bike any length of time, change the motor oil.
Esp the first change helps to contain and carry out any particles of metal.
It's your bike. treat it like you want.

I plan on putting the synthetic in all three holes, but did not know I needed to get back this soon..Any advise?
Thanks
I do it myself...I dumped the motor oil at 200 miles...all three holes at 1000 than to a normal schedule...

I have never changed the oil myself, my dealer gets $300 plus to do it. Maybe it's the warranty thing for them to do it. I don't know.

For a US resident; To keep warranty in force, the user may have to produce service records ( such a rec'ts for oil/filters).
Other than that there is no requirement that you use a certain brand of product ( as long as you product meets specs) or have service performed by dealer.
That's the law.
Moss-Magnuson Warranty Act

I change mine because that's the cost effective thing to do, I wash it to keep it clean- and that's usually when you find damage or something loose before it falls off.

Default Oil

Yep...Claims that it needs all three holes changed to syn., along with an"inspection" since its brand new. I am purchasing a manual next week to do my own oil changes but for this first one I will let them do since it is all three holes( don't think I can do that). I have changed the oil in my 08 Heritage without any problems, so maybe the touring won't be too scary...Thanks guys

The forum cut back on the mods because of the economy.

Might as well put my 2cents in while i'm here.
I've only had my bike for two weeks and have not had time to change the oil myself. Will have 900 something tomorrow after riding to work and back.
Taking it in sat for the 1K.Going to all services myself after.
