Got me wondering, too. I found my quote. Woodys charged me $52 shipping to the continental 48 states. That was in 2015. So there's one data point.

Woody's still charges about $50 shipping for fairings according to their website.

The box is not that big, even though it is obviously big enough for a fairing. But I would obviously remove the windshield and place it inside, as well as the Freedom Wings. And none of it is heavy. SO, point is, the shipping is not going to be huge money. I guess I just need to find someone looking for one. When I did the research on aftermarket fairings, Woodys was always at the top, and it did not let me down at all. I just decided I want my Road King to be without a fairing or windshield, as I had it for over 124,000 miles. In the wind baby. Love it.

I'm not interested in buying, just wondering how the windshield works with the vent in it?

Default Windshield Vent

I will start to answer your question by saying that I have had difficulties with buffeting in motorcycles. I have ZERO tolerance for it. The original windshield on my Road King was totally unacceptable to me because of the amount of buffeting on my helmet. I chose to face the wind directly, without a windshield or fairing, as I did for over 124,000 miles simply because of buffeting. Facing the wind straight on was far more acceptable than the buffeting the windshield created. Long before Harley figured out with their "Rushmore" change, that a windshield vent helps prevent buffeting, Honda figured it out on the GL1800 Goldwing in 2002, and maybe other manufacturers before that. The low pressure area created behind a windshield or fairing pulls high pressure air from around front and tumbles it behind,.....causing buffeting. Apparently some riders are not bothered by it, but I am.

So when I bought this Woodys fairing, first thing I did was get a windshield with a vent, AND a recurve at top of windshield. I can tell you that with both of these, there is ZERO buffeting. You can select different positions of the vent to provide some airflow directly at your face in the heat of summer, which is helpful. I would not ride this bike, with the fairing attached, without both the vent and the recurve. The Freedom wings also provide a way to direct cold air away from you in colder temperature, and cooler air to you in hot temperatures. I found the entire combination perfect for riding this bike in comfort. I am sure it as good as the Rushmore Harley.

The reason I am selling it, is because I made a decision to buy a second bike, a Honda GL1800 for real motorcycle touring, long distances in comfort, with my wife. I could have ridden this Road King anywhere solo, but there is no doubt what the Goldwing brings undeniable comfort for the passenger.....something I could not achieve with the Road King, despite trying. I will return my Road King back to the NO WINDSHIELD IN THE WIND bike I spent 124,000 plus miles on,...and loved every minute of it.

Thanks for your input on the recurve with vent.
I have a 2015 SGS and stock windshield sucked. I had a lot of buffering. It took trying a few different height windshields to get rid of most buffering, plus installing a lower fork wind deflector.
I'll have to look into getting a shield with vent for mine.

Thank again

Can you cut it out to put a radio and speakers in it. Buddy has RK and might be interested.

I suppose anything can be done with enough creativity, but the inner fairing on this one is not made for radio and speakers. When you buy a Woodys fairing with a radio, there is a different inner fairing. Maybe Woodys will sell you an inner fairing as the outer is the same.????

I have a buyer in New York, and I took it to UPS today for a shipping amount. From PA to his address is $98. See pictures of box. Its the same box Woodys shipped to me in, and works really good for keeping the fairing in when not mounted on bike. It takes two minutes to remove or install it, which makes it nice if you want to ride around town without it. If the guy buys it, I will mark it sold

Default Price lowered to $500

OK, since the shipping is costly, I will lower price for the fairing to $500, plus shipping. I think that is a very fair deal.
