I wish someone could verify my question of why the standard shocks as Harley describes them as ( easily-adjustable emulsion rear shocks) and people are saying (PREMIUM HAND ADJUSTABLE) which has a different part number and when you look the rebound side shock of the (PREMIUM) one's is totally different with a larger spring and twice the wraps. I am running a pair off of a 2016 CVO Street Glide. They each have different part numbers on them and I have not seen any part number on the Premium's.
I'm thinking that there is a difference?

I just bought a set from a 16 road glide. According to my dealer, The kit including shocks 54000081 and 54000082 with an instruction sheet are sold as 54000091, These are considered the low profile shocks, not sure what the part numbers for the '17 are.

The pair is listed in the catalog as that number and is 549.00 list for the pair.
They are both shocks and bothperform compression and rebound, the small one, that is mounted on the right side, is mounted upside down from the factory. This may be why you think it's a rebound shock????The reason they are different sizes is so that you only have to adjust one to set the desired preload. This makes it not necessary to remove two saddlebags when re adjusting the preload say for two up or big loads. The adjuster is hydraulic making them "easily adjustable." They both are emulsion shocks so the oil and air mixes as the shock is set in motion. This is not really a problem with cruising but if you were to get aggressive on a challenging roadway then the shock may begin to fade.
The shock are sold.
Thanks,
Red
I want to see a video of you shooting that 50 cal. My ported Taurus 44 mag 6" barrel
barks pretty good. That thing must sound like a cannon.
