Would like to chime in without jacking the thread. Got a solo rack on a trade at a swap meet, even though it has no H-D logo nor a part number stamped any where it looks exactly like this:

It mounts on my 2017, but I will say it is a very tight fit. I had to press it in because it rubs against the fender divider. The mounting points line up no problem.

Now as far as the pre 2013 models it looks like this:

The difference between both solo racks is very easy to spot. The holes were the tour pak screws go in are different, 2013 models are round & the newer has slots. Also the side edges on the solo rack are different, the older model has a small step on it where the newer does not. Hope this helps the OP & others.
