Nbdzhro, aren't the 6.5 infotainment systems serial number dependent? at least that is what I have been told.

 

If your referring to it being locked to the VIN number, the answer is no. I have the same unit added to my bike and it works fine. The only thing you might need to do is have it programmed to the amount of speakers your bike has or doesn't have. I installed mine which came off an FLHXS onto my RG non-special without issue, it works great!

 

Thanks for the clarification, I believe a service person at the dealership had told me that, as a theft deterrent.

Not that I know of. And when I went to my service dept to talk about what I was doing they didn't say anything about it being VIN locked. And I now work in the Sales Dept so no reason for them to not tell me.
