Um.... FWIW, they did not make a 14 SGS (Special) in blue.

They made the SG Standard (FLHX) in Daytona Blue and Big Blue.

There is a price difference between the FLHX and the FLHXS, so be sure you know which you're looking at, when talking prices.

Make sure you are shopping apples to apples. FLHXS colors:

I don't know why they thank we should pay shipping and set up. They are just like Walmart if they don't have it shipped to there store they can't sell it. And putting the bars on and putting oil in the bike. They have to do this also. That is why they charge more then MSRP.

Seriously.... The comments on dealer prep, Put on front Wheel/Pull up Handle bars/Putting on Handle Bars/Putting Oil in it... These things are already done, Have you ever seen a bike delivered to dealer lately? They are on a skid and all they put on the windshield, antenna, and a few other things and go over the entire bike ( supposed to) to ensure all is working.. AS for Color, SafetyMan you nailed it, there is no Special in Blue. If you looking at a Blue one, its a standard with ABS and Security, its not a great deal at all...

Like Safetyman said, they do not make a Special in blue. Now they may have added ABS and security to a SG but if they are asking $22,500 for those added options you may want to consider a SGS and get the 6.5 GPS and better rear shocks along with ABS, security, gloss black inner faring and pin stripping. Now if that is the only color you like and can do with out the other standard features that come on the SGS you should be looking at $17,000 to $19,000 out the door with the ABS and security added to the SG. I would think the SGS should be between $21,500 and $23,000 out the door.JMO

I paid 22300 plus tax and I think it was a good deal. Just buy the damn thing, you're over thinking this.

It amazes me when I see posts that mention what the dealer cost is. First of all a dealership isn't a non profit organization.

Employees get paid.
An employee gets paid to check the bike in when it arrives.
A mechanic gets paid to build the bike.
Prep the bike
Service writer gets paid to write the prep order.
When it's sold the salesperson gets a commission.
The bike gets gassed and cleaned by a porter for delivery.
All of the employees that are full time get health insurance that is paid for by the dealership.
The employer pays part of their 401k accounts (1 to 2 %)
Liability insurance is huge between the employees and customer test drives on bikes.
Property tax on commercial property ain't cheap.
The electric bill alone in the showroom / admin offices and shop are more per month then most of the posters salaries each month. I work in a car dealer and the electric bill each month is25k. Can't imagine it's much lower in a Harley dealership.

The cost of being n business is huge. If you expect to buy a touring bike for 5 or 6 hundred over cost your delusional. A couple grand is a fair profit.

Comments about used 14 SGS going for 19000 so buying a new one should be in that range are rediculas. iT'S A NEW Street Glide, probably the nicest touring bike on the market. You're gonna pay a profit. Period.

Talking like the dealer is out of their mind for asking for a profit is BS.

I think 18k dealer cost for a SGS is low. MSRP is 23 plus. Dealer mark up is nowhere near 5000. What is the source of this info? Post proof?

So I dido recheck the dealer website and the blue is a SGS standard, the charcoal and a few others I was looking over were the special.
I do like the idea of telling them over the phone what the OTD price is and seeing if they can meet it.
The dealer is Mile High, however I have on all of my previous bike worked with Sun. Two sport bikes and now the 48.

I understand what you are saying, that running a business is expensive but they do make +/- 5K on a bike. And guess what, unless you educate your self on your purchase you might as well throw your hard earned money out the door.

With the internet you can find dealer cost on most items out there. Do I check the price on soap before I go to the store....no. Do I check the dealer invoice costs before I go buy and new truck.....Hell yes......do I check blue book before I trade in my truck......hell yes. Why would I do any different on a 20k motorcycle?

In my deal I didn't try to short cut anyone but I sure didn't give them 5k for ordering a bike, dusting it off to put on the showroom floor and selling it. I gave them a fair price, Called 5 of the surrounding HD dealers and made them be competitive on shipping and setup. The shipping was the same at all the dealers I checked with. The setup varied by several hundred dollars so I made them match the lowest I found.

Bottom line, they can make that kind of jack off of someone else, me I will use that money saved to put aftermarket stuff on my bike.

Here is the link to see the dealer pricing site that I used. Notice it is all 2015 but you get the point.

2015 SGS invoice $18,319 MSRP $22,899 difference $4580

I paid $20,700 for the bike
$325 for shipping (as stated above that was the same price I found at 5 other dealers so I assumed it was set by the MoCo and did not haggle)
$625 for setup ( some dealers were at $1200 for setup)

After taxes (which vary from county to county, and state to state) I was a little over 23k. Which was the base price of the SGS special. They even kicked in a free T-Shirt for the wife and I........granted it had thier dealer name all over it but they did me right so i wear it from time to time....lol
