Default RE: Question about engaging 1st gear

Something I noticed on my '07 that is differentfrom my old FXRS: When in 1st gear on my 5-speed, if I step down on the shifter it goes down an inch or so and springs back up. On my 6-speed, if I'm in 1st gear and step onthe shifter, itwon't move. It's as hard and immobile as stepping on a brick. Evidently some internal difference in the shifting mechanism between the old and new.

Default RE: Question about engaging 1st gear

Exactly what mine does. My buddy the indy said it is probably the gears not meshing. He thinks even though I don't get the Harley clunk it's going into gear once I release the clutch and start moving. While still not moving if I shift back to neutral when I get this and then let out on clutch a bit it will clunk into first gear.
