Default Kickstand Failure On My Ultra

Anybody ever had a kickstand break, and the bike fell over? My dad's 83, and living in an assisted living home. I pick him up pretty frequently for rides, and have to help him get on the bike. It's a chore, and the bike moves around quite a lot doing it. What's the likelihood of the kickstand breaking? It's a 2011 Limited Ultra.

By the way, he's the hit of the assisted living home! He thinks it's pretty cool, and everybody comes out to watch us leave & make a little noise! He never rode before Father's Day 2013, and loves it. If you know anybody in assisted living, go pick them up for awhile, and give them an hour of "therapy!"

The stock kickstand (Jiffy Stand) is plenty strong enough.

Good for you!

I know how you feel about the jiffy stand. It just seems impossible that it can hold that weight. I would consider a center stand. I installed one on my 11 Ultra and it was very stable. Made oil changes a breeze too.

Kudos for you and your dad. Not a snowballs chance you will break that Jiffy Stand. No way. They are solid steel. It takes me a torch and a vice to even bend one. Not to mention that design is probably close to 100 years old. I think your safe.

Jiffystand will last forever...Only thing you'll need to pay attention every once a while is the 'spring' that holds it up.

Hey, I envy you giving your dad rides. Wish I could do it...No, My dad's deceased for the last 22 years. Enjoy your dad while it lasts.

I got to give my 91 year old grandma her first motorcycle ride a couple years ago. That's cool you get to give your dad rides. Keep it up.
