Default Need exhaust recommendation please

A buddy of mine is about to pick up a 2014 Limited and wants a louder than stock exhaust. He is going yo get rid of the stock headers as well. My taste and experience has always been with louder pipes so I'm no help to him right now. Does anyone have any suggestions for a deep rumble exhaust but one that's not too loud. He lives in a town house development and doesn't want to **** everyone off.

Need more info, does he like dual exhaust or two into one?Does he want something adjustable? To avoid making a costly mistake I would go with something that can be adjusted to taste like any header with Supertrapp slip-ons or possibly the new slip-ons from Fuel Moto or something else that gives you a couple or three baffle choices. Is he looking for more power? max power? or more noise? Does he like to tinker? Me personally I'm cheap but like to mess around with stuff so I have roughly 4 exhaust systems counting on the bike and in the garage.Currently running a stock 2010 Street Glide Header with an American Customs "bomber" slip-on but am toying with the Idea of a de-catted SG header with a Rush slip-on in the near future when I have time to tear into it.

The HD street cannons may be his best bet. The are 50 state street legal. They'll add a little oomph, but will still be tolerable. The problem with exhaust is that it's so subjective. Maybe a dealer near him has a couple new or used bikes with some options they can listen to. Bike nights are also great places to listen to a variety of options.

Yeah I've been trying to get him to go to a bike night or dealership to listen and see what he likes. This is his first bike and he wants to do it once. I know that it's very subjective, but I wanna give him ideas of where to start

Get rid of stock headers. Ride it for a while, that might be enough of a loudness change for him and his neighbors.

CFR or CFR clone. I like how they sound; a low deep rumble at idle but a big bark when you step on it. Youtube have sound clips and if not, maybe it will give you a frame of reference.

CFR is going to be way too loud for him. We just finished a 3,000 mile ride where I led the way. He was done with the CFRs by then lol

I have a '13 EGC and installed Vance & Hines dresser duals and the 3"(not the 4")twin slash cut mufflers. Love the set-up and sound! Nice rumble, maybe 30% louder than stock, sounds great getting on it through the gears. Another benefit with the dresser duals pkg is getting rid of the catalytic converter. Unreal how much cooler my bike runs. I rented a '14 Ultra for a weekend just to try it and the wife kept saying she felt like we were on a GoldWing because the Ultra was too quiet.

I have V&H Power Duals with their Hi-Output slip-on mufflers. Very, Very, deep rumble. But also pretty darn loud. I think the same head pipes, with Monster Round mufflers would be just the ticket.
