I am looking for something wide and flat. I don't like my wrists bent and I can't be too high because of a prior neck surgery. One of the reasons I held onto buying RK's was because I could get the beach bars and be comfortable. I put over 200 miles in last week in one day and so far it was 90% okay, but I would like to be a bit wider and hands more straight.
I am interested in this topic. A friend of mine has a 2014 Ultra limited with the heated grips. He would like to change the handlebars, but the dealer tells him he can't because of the heated grips. Does anyone know if this is true?
I just put on The Yaffe Classic Bagger Apes10" on a SGS and like them much more than stock. side by side the wrist angle doesn't seem much different but mounted it is less angle and I like the grip position. puts the grips right at the top of the fairing.
I have run 13" Prime Apes on my last two bikes. They are fairly wide, put your hands about even with the top of the fairing and look good to boot.
They will not work with the HD heated handgrips as I found out when I put them on my '10 Limited.
This is a photo of them on my '05 FLHTC.
Maybe take a look at BR's Custom Bars? They will build anything to your exact specs. Best mod I've done to date! Your hands will be exactly where you want them. For me, buying pre-made bars and expecting them to be what I want. would be like buying shoes on the internet.
Wow, I can see in the pic those Wild 1 bars are much wider than the YBB I have, the banjo bolt it a good 11/2" away from the downturn in the bar, mine is right up against the bend.
Take a look at Khrome Werks 2+2 Sweeper bars they are wide and flat and pull back and only raise you about two inches. They are extremely ergonomic. Had them on my SG and am going to put them on the EG this winter.
