If you buy the Rushmore stuff it's pre drilled. In fact, the tourpack uses studs and the holes are in the rack only.

My chopped tour pack came pre-drilled for the standard backrest.

If you want to put on the King style wrap-around backrest on a chopped tour pack, you'll have to drill some holes.

But the tour packs come with the holes needed for the style of backrest that is standard with that tour pack.

I was refering to the holes to mount it to the rack. Not the back rest pad

Oh, I misunderstood then.

Yes, you will have to drill those holes. And there is a template included with the rack.

I've done a couple of these. It's pretty simple. The ones I've done had pre drilled holes and yes there is a metal plate on the bottom of the tour pack

I looked on craigslist, went to swap meets, then found one on ebay for $600. delivered. I got lucky it was color matched to my bike (black pearl). It came with the backrest and 2 up docking hardware. All I had to do was buy the 4 point docking hardware for the bike. My point is look around you might find a deal.. good luck
