Exclamation Got hit in the head by a wild turkey today!

Holly crap!

I was riding home from work this afternoon. I'm cruising along about 40 mph when a GIANT wild turkey comes running across the road right in front of me.

I hit both brakes hard. He flew straight up off the road, hit the right side of my windshield, bounced off of that and hit the shield and top right of my helmet as I was braking and ducking at the same time. I was almost knocked off the bike, a heavy freaking bird.

All I got out of it was a few smudges/scratches on the windshield where he first bounced off of and some feather dust on the top of my helmet and a required change of shorts.

I'm glad I had my full face helmet on or would have gotten hit in the face as well.

I did NOT stop to see if he was OK.

Damn! Glad you're ok. I've gotten hit in the right shoulder by a pheasant before and it hurt. Can't imagine a turkey

Lucky miss,,those things can mess up a vehicle. I bet a bike would be toast after hitting one. The rider would look like hamburger too. Glad you're ok.

Glad you're OK. They are heavy birds so glad it didn't take you off the bike.

I thought you were supposed to drink it, not get hit by it.

Had a friend that got hit by a goose, almost tore him off the bike dislocated his shoulder, and was black and blue from his neck to his thigh.
Glad you can tell the tale, be careful and next time duck!! (thats a turkey joke!)

I guess I was lucky (if you can call getting hit by a turkey lucky) in that it hit the windshield first, then my head.
