Not me personally but sometimes you hear of springs that go bad. They should be replaced periodically (not sure what the guidance is), and some folks carry spares.

Nope. They`re pretty much "bullet proof", as long as they`re made by HD. Some of the aftermarket ones you need to be wary of, though.

If the spring fails, it won't cause the stand to "fold"... but rather, won't hold it in the up position...

Yup. Harley stand will not fold up with any weight on it.

I always carry a spare spring in my saddlebag, just in case. They do break sometimes. There have been several threads questioning the jiffy stand. As long as it is in the proper position, between the tabs, it will not fold up on you.

However, this is contingent upon the assumption that the jiffy stand is undamaged and torqued to specifiations. The bolts do loosen up and need to be checked periodically.

if you deploy it properly, it won't fold up on you. the biggest problem is people being in too much of a hurry and not deploying it properly. i always kick it forward to make sure that it is as far forward as it can be before i set the weight of the bike on it.

I would say 99% of problems with Harley's jiffy stand is the rider causing the stand to fold.Don't ask me how I know because I try to forget stupid mistakes.

Assuming you mean that the spring isn't working properly, this subject was raised recently in another tread which included an easy peasy way to install a new spring. Hey presto.....
