Curious what you are really asking, OP. I found it hard to trust at first, and others expressed that also. A thread some time back had a video with a lady showing how to pick up your fallen bike. She pushed the bike in both directions a foot or so while it was leaning on the stand. That did a lot to convince me. It is solid.

I found something interesting. With 12,000 km on the bike I went around and 'finger checked' every bolt I could see. I had previously blue lock tightened the ones I thought to be important. The bolt that is on top of the Jiffystand, the one that goes through the locking tab, had backed out quite a bit and the tab was in danger of not engaging. Blue lock tight and I check it frequently.

For anyone that doesn't "trust" the side stand, just get down and take a close look at it.
Once you see that the stand can't fold up with the locking tab in place, you will never doubt it again.
Now, if you don't put the stand all the way down before leaning the bike over then all bets are off.
