Default Garmin 660

Got a nice surprise yesterday. My 2 year 11 month old 660 with over 30,000 miles on it quit working like it should.

Called Garmin to see if it could be refurbrished. Was informed that the normal Garmin gps' had a warranty of 1 year, but the Zumo's were 3 years and mine was still under warranty. Sending it back today and getting a new one.

Is it the Zumo that has the three year warranty or is it the RoadTech version that has such?

Either way three years is a definite plus. Did not know such.

I just had my 13 month old Roadtech give up the ghost. Garmin replaced it with a refurb Zumo.

It would be nice to know what the warranty really is. At the price, it really should be 3 years.

It kinda tweaked me that they replaced my Roadtech with a regular Zumo.

If they really did replace your HD Roadtech with a regular Zumo 660, it won't work with the NIM on your factory radio. A Zumo doesn't produce the correct tone to cause the NIM to interrupt your radio and send the audio directions.

If they replace mine with the regular model instead of the Road Tech, it will go right back. I need mine to interface with the Harmon Kardon and it is my understanding that the regular model does not.

That was all that was wrong with mine to start with. It quit interfacing part of the time. No MP3 signal and no voice directions through the radio.
