Losing power under load like going up-hill at high speed on sixth gear
#11
07-08 have taller gearing than other years, with a load uphill the motor doesn't make enough power to pull that tall of gearing. u can get a 68 tooth rear sprocket and have the lower gearing of the newer bikes. if u ride 2 up a lot u can gear it even lower.when 2 up i get better milage in 5th than i do in 6 th at 65 mph,its do to the tall gear.

For some reason it is leaning out slightly and getting hot. The 255's are bad about this. There are 4 tables running in the background that can and will reduce timing when the engine gets to certain temps. You can't see them with SEPST. One table does it from Intake air temp, one from engine temp and the other is head temp. and the other is PE table. I realize you are dyno tuned, but something has changed to cause it to run lean. If you have someway to run it at those loads before the engine has time to get too hot I suspect it won't do it. Then after few minutes it will start. The reason the engine exhaust gets loud is it is backing the timing off. Sort of a catch 22, the more it backs the timing off the hotter it will get if you keep pushing it. If you had a Power Vision you could run a Diagnostic log and see what is happening. Can't do that with the SEPST that I am aware of without a laptop on bike, but thaat maybe a TTS I am thinking of. If you have a friend with PV he can run one on your bike even though it isn't married to it. Just can't make changes to your bike with PV. The PV log will tell you the engine temp, head temp, Intake air temp, spark knock, front and rear spark advance and VE front and rear and suggested VE front and rear and what the AFR is set for. Great diagnostic tool.

It starts right up in the morning, then after riding 30 min. or so, specially on the expressway, not so much on secondary(back) roads, if your're in sixth gear doing 75 MPH or so and you start going up a hill or incline, it begins to run rough and the exhaust gets very, very loud(sounds almost like a helicopter, I hate it), then it begins to loose speed, and if you give it more throttle it just gets louder, but won't go no where, then when the hill or incline starts decreasing some if you slightly ease off the throttle a little it starts to smooth out a little, then once you're back on even pavement it almost goes back to normal, but still sounds a little louder than it would for the first 30 min. or so, and it even throttles up if you need to pass someone or whatever, but also when it starts running rough like this the gas mileage decreases a bit.
