when i bought my 07 road glide the dealership had put on rinehart tips and now the right side one is turning purple. what is the deal is that side getting too hot or what they also put in the stage one.

anyhelp would be greatly appreciated.

Well if you bought a Black Cherry bike it would match like mine does!

Yeah, I had a right shoe that would not stay tied!
Easy fix was to switch it with the left........
Really though I got true duals and my left went purple, odd!
And yes my bike is Black Cherry also, now if only the right side would would change I'd be fine.
It dont really bother me that much just wish they both looked the same!

 

They are not supposed to change colors. The tips are anodized and Rinehart had had some issues withthe tips changing color. Both on my 03 changed color, I called Rinehart and they shipped new ones to me at no cost.

The problem with the tips turning purple has nothing to do with heat. (ok, it could be a minor contributing factor...but not in this case.) It has to do with UV exposure from the sun. The right tip is more exposed to the sun than the left when the bike is parked. The left gets some "shade" from other parts of the bike.

Bub needs to specify UV stable dyes for their anodizing.

 

mrwizard i am a little slow from time to time so i am not for sure if you are joking or not. but i doubt it is from the sun i have only had the bike for 4weeks and it gets parked in the garage and we have had a lot of raid in the last 3 weeks so i have only put about 900 miles on it. the bike has not had much sun exposure.
