Default Transfer & Cam Chain Tensioners

On a '09 96 V-Twin engine at what mileage would you be concerned about the Transfer and Cam Chain Tensioners requiring replacement?

Not sure what you mean by "transfer", but the cam tensioners are not an issue on '07 & later bikes.

You're probably referring to the Primary chain tensioner and the cam tensioners. In my experience so far, the cam chain tensioners on your bike are most likely fine up to about 50,000 miles at which point they'll probably still be fine, but worth a look. The same can be said of the primary chain tensioner, although they tend to run a bit tight. Chances are that the primary tensioner itself will be fine for 50,000 too, but an inspection more frequently might be a good idea if only to check chain tension.

I think he means primary chain.
What happened on 07 and later cam chain tensioner that they are no longer a problem? Please elaborate. I have a 2010 Ultra with 23k miles and was going to include checking the cam chain tensioners and primary chain tensioner in my next oil change, maintenance checks.

In '07, the cam chain tensioners were changed from the spring loaded contraptions previously used to a new hydraulic tensioner system and roller chain. Whilst still not a perfect fix, the new style which you will have on a '10 has a significantly longer life span and has not been shown to be prone to catastrophic failure......yet.
