RE: polished lower fork sliders
In his case? Since they are still on the bike you'd need to wrap/cover the entire bike and then hit the lowers with some automotive grade touch up clearcoat or get the real stuff that you mix and put in a gun.
I used to polish my bike stuff and hit with cheap clearcoat, it would need to be repolished again in like 3-5 years.
But since then I don't do anything polished anymore. I have it powdercoated. Mostly black!

Cool. Could you do my 06 Street Bob? It's one year old and the sliders are already oxidizing...lol
And it HAS clear on it... go figure. These are the showa forks. Made of some cheap a$$ aluminum or blend..who knows.

They will look great for years if you just shine 'em up. I polished up all of the aluminum on my Ironhead over 10 years ago. It still looks great.

You going to clear them now? They'll oxidize pretty fast if you don't.

i have a couple of friends that have asked if i would do theirs. i see that the new chrome sliders from hd are 300 without labor. i dont think i would like to spend that much time on someone elses bike for any less than that. it was a labor of love and boredom with mine.

just a tip after i did one side i used a file to take off the weld marks on the attatchment points. just be careful not to go too deep or too hard. any marks u put on have to be sanded smooth so be careful with the file. a dremel probably would have worked better than the file but i didnt feel like goin to the store to buy the right bit
