If it were that critical, Harley wouldn't have sold it that way. It won't fail,
Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but with continued lean conditions? Who knows. These engines should be running around 14:1 not 17:1 air/fuel ratio.
And just because Harley sold it that way, it's not critical?

Put the SERT on it and have it tuned, It will cost you, but, it is one of those things that will make you happy. I know, I know, we shouldnt have to do that. It is a good investment.

you know your probably right the oil cooler issue. I have lived and rode in phoenix area for the past 3 years on an evo with 45,000 miles without a problem. I do try and avoid stop and go at all cost but i dont let my oil get old and i havent had any problems. Another interesting point is that probably less that one percent of the Harleys out here have them.

I have not seen them crack but I did see a bike waiting for service at the dealer that was melting. It was on a almost new 07 Ultra.

Wow...they must have been installed wrong. I have them on my RKClassic and no problem. My buddy had them on all last year in Chicago and had no problem in bumper to bumper traffic. There is plenty of clearance and if they're melting there must be something wrong with either the installantion or the bike.
