Default Turn Signal light/Fairing Interference

Just installed new fairing lowers on my RKC. At just before full left 'lock' the turn signal hits the fairing....It looks like the mounting bracket is slotted so the passing light/turn signal could be moved forward a quarter inch or so....Is this correct? Can I just loosen them up and slide them forward in the bracket???

According to the service manual I remove the turn signal then use a 'flare nut socket' to loosen a nut... Do you really need a special tool??? Does the turn signal wire go through the stud???

Thanks in advance for the help

No, you don't need a special socket but you do need a modified one.
Buy any 6 point cheap deep well 9/16 socket.
Take a die grinder and cut a slit about 3/8" long through the wall on one side.
The spot light on top of the turn signal light has a hollow mounting stud and the wire
runs through it.
Cutting the slit in the socket eiliminates cutting the wire and resplicing it.
alternatively if you have enough clearance.
You can get a crows foot wrench and use it. Crows come as an open end or as a tubing nut
style.
I bought a socket for $3.95 at Autozone 4 years ago. Snap on has the socket I think $25.00

As far as adjustment on your bike, don't know, but my 01 EG can be slid forward and back on the
mounting bar (slotted)and pivoted on the ball mount.

Well that was a pain.... A 5 minute job that wound up taking an hour....1st of all the 'slot' in the mount is really two over lapping holes... more of a 'figure eight' shape...so you can't just loosen the nut and slide the light forward...you have to take the nut all the way off, pull the passing light stud up and clear and them move it forward.....Then the battle is to get the nut started up in side the turn signal mount...Of course even though the right side cleared fine I had to move it to the forward position too.....

Anyway...that's done....the tip on the socket was great....

Thanks again
