Default NY Inspection sticker mounts

So, I was just curious where and how most of you prefer to display that god awful ugly NY safety inspection sticker/ plate combo? I AM NOT happy about how high mine was mounted by the dealer when I had it put on during the inspection process. Of course we are not allowed into where the work is being performed and they need to make the sticker be seen, but its just way too high and I am going to at least lower it next year when it comes due to be inspected again. Just wondering how you guys have yours....

I have mine mounted using the lower bolt from the crash bar. The law does not bother me with that..

I have mine on a plate on the lower crash bar as well. Don't know what's legal but no one seems to have an issue with that here in central NY.

I have that exact plate on my Dyna... however the dealer said that unless the bolt is BEHIND the sticker, whereas the sticker would have to be destroyed to remove, they are illegal. Sold me on this one... just mounted it too high.

As usual, it sounds like the dealer is talking out their ***. Show them the law...

According to this website:

https://www.troopers.ny.gov/Publicat..._Equipment.cfm

ALL MOTORCYCLES REGISTERED IN NEW YORK STATE must be inspected and display an inspection sticker on the left front side of the motorcycle attached to a structural member. Bolt on plates may be used.
Nowhere does it state the sticker has to be over a bolt.

When I lived in Virginia, THEIR law states "The decal issued to a motorcycle shall be affixed to the left side of the cycle where it will be most visible after mounting. The decal may be placed on a plate on the left side where it will be most visible and securely fastened to the motorcycle for the purpose of displaying the decal."

I think you might be able to get away with what I did, in New York, simply because they use the word "front". And they state "bolt on plates may be used"

I used a stainless mount that looked like a price tag, similar to the Best Buy sign, and had to bend it out ever so slightly so it didn't rattle. There is a hole in the frame member that accepted a 5/16" Stainless bolt and washers perfectly. A couple of extra washers behind might give it enough offset to keep it from rattling.

Not saying it will work, not saying it won't, but it worked for me.
