In Virginia, vehicle safety inspections are required annually while vehicle registrations can be renewed for 1, 2, or 3 years (3 years for vehicles that do not require emiisions tests). The state controls the the vehicle registrations while safety and emission inspections are performed by garage that have licensed safety/emission inspectors. Just another way to charge us more money.

I had them on the forks for years, hated them there. One day at an Indy shop I asked the guy to put it on the frame, front left side. He said OK. It has been there, on all three bikes, for the last 8 years or so. Never had an issue. left front and permanent part of the bike. Looks way better than hanging out on the forks.

Thanks for all of the replies... sorry for the long hiatus from answering, but I am on vacation with limited internet access.. (love that actually)....
Anyways, yes unfortunately NY is a nanny state and although 99% of the LEOs in my area couldnt give a rats azz, sometimes small details on a bike arent really worth the hassle of trying to talk your way out of an infraction on the side of the road. Luckily for me, where I live, most of them are very down to earth and reasonable, and would be the first to walk past you and give you a thumbs up and tell you that you have a nice bike.
Thanks everyone...
